Remodeling the Living Room

We are trying to decide how to remodel our living room. We are thinking of re-painting it and buying some new modern furniture. Ours is a little antiquated. I want to redo it in a Art Deco style but, I just can't decide on the colors and design. Also is there such a think as Art Deco style border? I have a lot of Art Deco figurines but I would like to combine the old and the new. I just haven't figured out how to do it yet.
