LED Taillights, Are they Better?

Well I have a taillight out, so I need to replace it. When I went to get it replaced they asked me whether I wanted led taillights or regular bulb taillights. Well I thought I heard that led lights shine brighter so I told him to use the led ones. When I got home I did some research and yep I was right. They are suppose to be brighter.
