The Spirit - Another Comic Book Movie

The Spirit is now out at the theaters. I really didn't like the previews. It's made like Sin City and I REALLY didn't like that movie. I just don't understand the purpose of making a movie in black and white. I'd much rather read an article about material handling than watch a black and white movie. I know it comes from a comic book, but so what? There has been several movies that I have gone to that came from comic books, and I loved them. I just don't love the way they make these movies. I didn't like 300 either. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think so. Those two movies in general are just weird!

The Tale of Despereaux should be good!

I can't wait to see The Tale of Despereaux. He is so cute with those big ears. My husband and I are big fans of animated movies. So every time there is a new one out that is cute we go to see it. The last one we went to see was Horton Hears a Who. He just got that one for Christmas. Yep you are right he buys all the animated movies. We have quite a collection now. Anyway, I hope it gets here soon.

Valkyrie Did you like the movie?

My husband is trying to talk me into going and seeing Valkyrie. I just don't like Tom Cruise, and I think that the Nazi's were despicable people so I really don't want to watch a movie about them. I would much rather read an article about commercial collection agencies than watch this movie. I am truly glad we won because Hitler was crazy besides all the innocent people he killed. Only a crazy person would hate people because of their religion. You can hate people if they are mean or rotten but because they were Jewish? I know the movie is about assassinating Hitler but really that's a part of possible history that I would rather not watch.

Burning coal for heat? Uck!

I read that people are starting to burn coal again to heat their homes. All I can say is uck. It might be something to consider if prices keep going up, but can they make it so it will burn clean and safe? How do you keep it going if your not home? It doesn't feed itself into the furnace. If you work a job and are away from home for several hours how do you keep your house warm? Well anyway I am not sure I would consider it, but we don't live near any coal mines either.

Von Trapp family in the news

I read an article today about the Von Trapp family. The one they made the sound of music about. It was kind of disillusioning. What happened in the movie I guess was mostly correct, but the persona of Julie Andrews was not. I guess Maria Von Trapp really ruled with an iron hand. Maybe she had to to survive and prosper who knows. It just really changes my perception of The Sound of Music you know. As a side note, I am looking at new kitchen faucets since mine is leaking. Bummer!

Went gambling and lost!

We went to the casino yesterday and man are those games tight. It is a real waste of time. I mean you just can't enjoy yourself when you don't win even a little bit. Talk about tight those games squeaked. It's usually my sister, brother, their better halves, my husband, and me. This time my two nieces went. They wanted to go play bingo. I DID NOT enjoy it. My youngest niece is about 28 and she doesn't have a boyfriend and hasn't had one for about 2 years. She doesn't have a lot of friends either. It's not because she is ugly or anything it is frankly because she is a shrew. That sounds bad but she bitches CONSTANTLY about everything. I mean this is one miserable individual and likes taking it out on everyone else. The problem is she doesn't get away with it with me. I get tired of it and get in her face. Then I think she realizes she is being a shrew and backs off. I have no patience for her crap and think she needs to get a life. Well now that my ranting is over I will continue on with my thanks for listening.

Term life policy running out GEEZ!

Well I get the notice in the mail today that my 20 year term life insurance policy was ending soon. Bummer. Just what I needed at Christmas time. So I will be looking online, and calling a few places to get a term life insurance quote. I am kind of scared to start because as you know the older you get the more it costs. When I got the last one I was well, let's just say a lot younger. Talk about depressing! I feel older than dirt now! Well keep your fingers crossed that I get a good deal.

Christmas Day is FINALLY here!

Man was I glad that Christmas finally got here. I know it sounds bad but after a while I am just ready for it to be over. Now I am ready for the after Christmas sales! I used all my Christmas bags for the presents so I need to get more for next year. I would also like to get some Christmas shirts. We are going to Target and JC Penney’s tomorrow to see what they have. Have a Merry Christmas!

White Christmas movie at a vintage movie theater

On December 18th my sister, nieces, and myself went to an old movie theater that has been refurbished in our town to see the original White Christmas on the big screen! I use to work at this theater many years ago when I was sixteen. It was a lot of fun. They even used an old push button cash register. Anyway, it was really cool to be in that theater again after all these years. The problem is when they refurbished it they changed it. They were suppose to take it back to it's original look but they didn't. It's was really disappointing to see it that way. However, they did keep the original theater seating. It was a blast from the past to be back in that theater. The movie wasn't bad either.

Puzzles, puzzles, puzzles what the bored do

With the weather being ucky I decided to put a puzzle together. Talk about being COMPLETELY bored. Nope we don't have any children at home so sometimes when the weather is bad it is really boring. We watch TV, I read books but still I sometimes get bored you know. This is some of the reason why I HATE winter. In the summer I can barbecue, shop, go to movies, go swimming, etc. I know I need to start exercising but like everyone else that is one of the last things I want to do. How do you keep busy? Maybe I need to start a new hobby. Now I just have to decide which one.

Jolie and Pitt another set of twins?

Good God! How many children are Brad and Angelina going to have? I think people should be able to have as many children as they want, but do I have to CONTINUALLY hear about it? I guess I must be different than the rest of the world. I REALLY don't care how many children they have I just don't want to hear when she is pregnant again. Psst personally I really could care less. I think I would rather spend my time searching for computer memory. If I hear it again I am going to beat slam tap my head against a wall.

Golden Globe Nomination for Heath Ledger

I saw that they did the Golden Globe Nominations. I was happy to see that Heath Ledger was nominated. He was one of the best actors I ever watched. He had a terrific range. I think that man could probably play ANY part. His early death was such a loss. I really hope he wins if nothing else to honor his life.

All I want for Christmas is a GPS

Bryan and I were talking last night about what we wanted for Christmas. He told me he thought it would cool to have a GPS. I'm thinking I don't think so. If we traveled a lot then maybe, but we really don't travel that much. We are going to look at GPS's tomorrow so I guess when I see how much they cost and what all they do do then I'll decide.

8 Days Till Christmas will it EVER get Here?

Well there are 8 days till Christmas. I am sorry but I am already tired of the whole thing. I am ready for it to be over. I know, I know I'm feeling a little bah humbug today. I still have presents left to buy, and wrap, cookies to bake, and the list goes on and on. I think I need a present wrapper and a cook for Christmas. Hum I wonder if they'd fit under the tree?

Chrysler is shutting down for a month?

I read today that Chrysler is shutting down operations for a month. I personally think it is a ploy. "Oh poor is me I need money so I am going to show them how much". They have had problems off and on for many years and not until the Bail Out did they think they had the RIGHT to ask for money. I don't think it is our responsibility to pay their bills. They have come thru every other time they will come thru this time. Maybe they need to look at their management, cut expenses, take some Anoretix, or use some common sense. Sink or swim baby!

Is Warren Buffett's skelton Nicole?

I read an article today about Warren Buffett's adopted granddaughter Nicole. Well I guess she isn't his granddaughter anymore. Her mom married Warren Buffett's son Peter. He adopted her twin girls. So she is not blood but she is still a Buffett. Anyway she made some comments about his money and now she has been disinherited. Warren Buffett's theory is to make tons of money but not enjoy it. Live like a regular joe as they say. All I have heard in the past years is how wonderful he is. Well I don't think he is so wonderful if he disinherits his granddaughter. Guess I will re-think that.

Get away from the cold and go to Las Vegas!

I was thinking about Las Vegas today. Actually I've been thinking about how nice it would be to be someplace warm. I thought of Las Vegas because frankly I love playing the slot machines. The last time I stayed their it was at a great las vegas hotel. The room was really nice and I LOVED being able to wake up in the middle of the night and instead of laying in bed awake I could get dressed and go down to gamble. What could be better! I can't really afford it this year but oh do I wish I could!

Auto Aid Bill They Shouldn't GET IT!

It seems like about every 5 years the auto manufacturers are in trouble finance wise. They figure it out each time and keep on going. This time though when they see the UNGRATEFUL banks getting a bail out they think oh what the heck lets jump on the band wagon. I am tired of supporting these dead beats! Why does Mr and Mrs taxpayer always end up with the bill? I am tired of supporting a government who is willing to give away my money without any forethought as to my opinion about it. I am sick and tired of supporting these idiots. It's time to fight the government and take our money back!

Loving the 25 days of Christmas movies!

I really, really have been enjoying the 25 days of Christmas movies on ABC Family. Usually I haven't paid that much attention but this year it has been great. I really never realized how many Christmas movies there are. They have played my favorites as well as some I haven't seen before. The only one I haven't seen is It's a Wonderful Life. I hope that they play it before Christmas. As I am watching I am searching the internet for Christmas presents. My husband wants safety equipment of all things. Anyway if your not watching the movies and love Christmas movies be sure to watch a few.

Good God its COLD!

Well winter is finally really here. We went to Walmart today to buy groceries and oh my god was it cold. It was actually 55 degrees yesterday today it's 18 degrees. Crazy right? The temperature has been up down and all around. It is just crazy but today it is COLD! I am still buying Christmas too. I will be really glad when I am done with that. As I get older it just gets to be more and more of a pain in the a**.

Searching, and Searching for Term Life Insurance

I had term life insurance with Prudential. When I got it twenty years ago it was fairly cheap. When the plan was up I went to renew and EGADS! was it expensive. I know it gets more expensive the older you get, but good grief. It went up over 5 times the original cost. So now I am on the hunt for term life insurance. I think I will go with Farmers Insurance but as of yet I am not sure.

Gas prices down to a dollar?

My husband told me heard on the news that gas prices may well get down to $1.00 a gallon. That is the best news I have heard all year. With all the bad happening with the economy and people losing their jobs, it's nice that something good is happening. I'm cheering for fifty cents a gallon or less. I have my fingers crossed, and my toes, and my eyes and anything else I can cross. No don't ask.

Ho Hum De Dum De Dum

I just can't get into the holiday spirit. I really wish I knew what is wrong with me. Don't you just get tired? I just get tired of the hustle and bustle. Tired of the craziness. I like Christmas but by the time I have to fight to find out what my family wants for Christmas then find it I'm just tired. Maybe I just have the blues. I also found today that Bryan's mother has started on a pain pump to help with the pain in her back. I really hope it helps.
